How to Make Hanfu: A Guide with Illustrations
Hanfu is the traditional clothing of the Han Chinese people. Its origins can be traced back to the era of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors, all the way to the Ming Dynasty, spanning thousands of years. Throughout this period, the Han Chinese (Han nationality) maintained the basic characteristics of their attire. The clothing worn by the Han people during this time is known as Hanfu. The influence of Hanfu is profound, and the traditional clothing of many Asian countries, such as Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Mongolia, and Bhutan, either possess or draw inspiration from Hanfu features. The Quju is a type of deep robe in the Han Chinese clothing system. Deep robes can be divided into two types based on whether the skirt wraps around the body: the Zhiju (straight skirt) and the Quju (curved skirt). In the Quju, the back panel of the skirt is extended to form a triangle, which then wraps around to the front after passing behind the body.
